Job Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Plano clubhouse Program Director is responsible for assisting and supporting member activities within organized work units in the program. Clubhouse work units are essential and vital to the daily operation of the organization. Utilizing the Brain Injury Clubhouse Model, our program work units include Communication, Kitchen and Maintenance, Outreach and Advocacy, and Media & Merch. The Program Director facilitates the work of member groups, including direction provided to program members, unit coordinator(s), student interns, and additional volunteers to complete tasks required for successful daily clubhouse operation. The Program Director also interacts with community service providers, special guests, and visitors to facilitate enhanced member programming and can spread the word about our mission in the community. Additionally, the Program Director is responsible for managing emergency situations if/when they arise. Administrative tasks include coordination, distribution, summarization, and records maintenance for member and volunteer/intern information files, attendance records, incident reports, and outcomes tools used to evaluate program effectiveness and impact. The Program Director is also responsible for planning, organizing, and directing volunteer or intern support associated with member programming and will manage volunteer resources, including scheduling, to assist in the delivery of the organization's programs, services, and on-site events, which may also include virtual services.

Hours, Salary & Other Benefits:

● 5 days/week, approximately 36-40 hours/week total
● Total Annual Compensation, $48,500 - $62,000
● Performance will be formally reviewed following 90 days of employment and at least annually thereafter.
● Reporting to work on major holidays, weekends, or evenings is not expected routinely. We have an annual fundraising walk that occurs on a Saturday, where staff are asked to work.
● Annual Vacation Time Provided: Unlimited days, 10 consecutive with approval
● Annual Paid Sick Leave Provided: 30 days in a rolling 18-month period
● Annual reimbursement for licensing, certification(s) or education expenses is limited to $500

Minimum Qualifications:

● Master’s degree in social services, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational or Physical Therapy, or related field (strongly preferred), and adequate work experience in social sciences, community program development, hospital setting, or rehabilitation. Strong candidates with experience in a brain injury clubhouse, but who do not hold a master’s degree, will be considered.
● Proficiency in the use of word processing applications and Google Docs
● Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling verbal and written messages to individuals, groups, and the general public
● CPR and First Aid certification
● Reliable transportation
● Personal characteristics: patient and compassionate, creative problem solver, positive attitude, organized, efficient time management skills, teamwork-oriented with the ability to also work independently, takes initiative, comfortable and excited to serve as a manager to persons with disabilities
● In addition, characteristics consistent with ethical behavior, innovation, dependability, leadership, and organizational skills are required

Extraordinary Qualifications

● Previous work experience in supported or sheltered employment settings for persons with disabilities, supervision of co-workers and/or student interns, use of data/outcomes tools
● Previous work experience with a database/client management system/CRM
● 3+ years of supervisory, administrative, or management experience in volunteer placement services
● Previous work experience using virtual technology tools such as Zoom

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The Program Director operates in a professional office environment with intermittent work completed outdoors in various weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and kitchen equipment/small appliances. While performing the duties of this position, the Program Director is regularly required to communicate effectively, stand, walk, use and/or tolerate exposure to typical cleaning products, bend, and reach with hands and arms. The Program Director must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and use a stepladder. Exposure to germs, pathogens or communicable illness is likely, as is local travel to community events, continuing education opportunities/training, and local retailers for supply purchases.

Program Director Responsibilities

● Develop goals, objectives, and structured tasks for member work units that consistently meet the overall needs of the program and the organization while identifying tasks that provide meaningful work; navigate task modification and maximize accessibility for persons with disabilities
● Manage the Unit Coordinators, student interns, and volunteers in the program, including provision of orientation, assignment of roles, and ongoing performance evaluation with implementation of improvements as applicable
● Administer and report on regularly scheduled outcomes data collection related to member-reported quality of life, community integration, and related surveys/inventories to best describe program effectiveness
● Maintain accurate and timely information in (electronic) member files
● Provide feedback to members with attention to positive reinforcement, while ensuring adequate time for members to complete individual jobs, and recognition of contributions
● Ensure that members complete their work in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and regulations; provide first aid care, activate emergency response procedures, and complete incident reports when necessary
● Assist with conflict resolution among members, staff, and volunteers
● Assist in scheduling and coordinating member events, including community guest presentations and other educational opportunities
● Occasionally, drive members to BIN related events (as appropriate), including the grocery store for meal prep, speaking engagements, etc.
● Follow a budget for the work unit activities and/or volunteer recognition and prudently manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines
● Develop and utilize forms and records in coordination with the Unit Coordinators, student interns, and volunteers to document the member activities, attendance, outcomes data, behavior action plans, and progress in meeting individual member goals
● Continually assess the need for and subsequently schedule unit coordinators, student interns, or volunteers to provide adequate support and supervision of members and enhance program/service delivery, and subsequently fill gaps with appropriate volunteer candidates
● Ensure that interns and volunteers receive the appropriate level of supervision, establish a process for evaluating the contribution of individual volunteers, and provide routine performance feedback according to established procedures
● Ensure that unit coordinators, volunteers, and interns work in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment in accordance with all appropriate policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
● Maintain and update all documentation related to Programs to maintain CARF mandatory records and accreditation.
● Assist the Executive Director and/or Development Director with data collection for the preparation of the annual impact report or other annual or quarterly grant reporting requirements
